freewordpresstheme!

A free wordpress theme by Wayne Connor based on sliding images.

Welcome!

Welcome to the sliding door wordpress theme homepage. The sliding door theme has just hit a total of 40,000 downloads! Very exciting to see so many people using it.

A big thanks to Northern Images Photography, and Eddie Herrmann, who were the first to make a donation! Thanks for the other people who have made donations since then too.

If you need help with the theme, there is a support webpage here, with a FAQ, and many questions are answered there abotu how to set up the theme.

Enjoy the template!

Make a Donation

Lots of people have asked how they can make a donation to say thankyou for the theme. If you’d like to make a donation you can click here:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=2961960

If you’re broke $2 or $3 would be nice! If you’re using it for commercial purposes, whatever you feel appropriate!

A donation is a way of saying thank you for the theme. It’s not a way of paying for support – I don’t give extra help to people who make donations. But I would like to say to all the people who have donated – thanks!

NEED HELP??? Read here!!!!!

I’ve started a support forum for anyone needing support.

Please don’t ask support questions here!

If you have any questions about getting the theme to work please visit the support forum here.

There is a FAQ there. There are literally hundreds of answers there. It’s getting to the point where everyone is just re-asking the same questions over again – so check out the forum!

Sliding Door 1.5

The only thing new in version 1.5 are some changes  to  the color of the caption and the spacing of lists and the headings in the sidebar. But it looks nicer!

How to Install

To get it going, you need to upload the theme into your wordpress theme folder, then select the theme from within wordpress like any wordpress theme.

Plus here are a couple of extra steps to get the unique slidingdoor features enabled.

IMAGES

Download the original photoshop files and edit the text on the sliding images and the background pictures to suit your own site. Then save the images as compressed as you can, and  upload the finished pictures to: yoursite/wp-content/themes/slidingdoor/imagemenu/images

IMAGE URL’s

The images by default point to the first 7 wordpress categories. You can change this to point them wherever you wish, but you will need to edit the header.php file. The URL for the first image is in line 47 of the header.php file.  Line 48 contains the link for the second image and so on.

SITE HEADING

The theme has the ability to have two colours in the blog heading. To use this optional effect you simply need to place square brackets around any words that you want to be darker in the heading. For example on this site I have as the blog name “free[wordpress]theme[!]” so the “wordpress” and “!” is darker. This does not effect the page title where the brackets are replaced by spaces.

If you have any questions please go to the support forum and chances are someone has already asked it there.
