Getting Started
1. Download the theme and activate it from wordpress.
2. Download the ‘page links to’ plugin from here
3.In the WordPress Pages menu Create 7 pages that will be your seven headings in the menu. They can be a real pages with content (Eg ‘About me’) or you can go down the bottom of the page entry and select the ‘page links to’ and link to anywhere like this:
4. If you’d like to change the images, you need to use an FTP program to upload new jpgs to override the existing ones in the wp-content/themes/slidingsdoor/imagemenu/images directory. They need to have the same name, and be 320×200 in size or it won’t work.
For more complicated mods etc check out the forums at mac-host.com/support
Enjoy!

Hi! You have done phenomenal work on this theme – thenk you so much! I am trying to figure out how to display the sliding doors menu at the top when I call a page or post such as: ?p=124 since it is now only calling the sliding menu when displaying a category such as: ?cat=18. Does that make sense? Do you know how I can make this change? Thank you again for what you’ve done! Great work.

Yay! I found the answer here:
http://www.mac-host.com/support/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8
My son wants to use this theme on my WordPressMU site. Looks great. When a user wants to use a custom theme, in setup a plugin for them called userthemes. It basically gives them their own directory to put themes. So far all themes I have test see to work fine except this one. I haven’t been able to figure it out so I thought I would drop a note here.
it seems like this theme requires it be located in the ‘/themes’ directory. When I put it in the userthemes directory, it display’s, but the java scripted pic’s banner does not.
Any ideas?
awesome theme… how can I find out about updates to this theme ? I don’t see a way to subscribe to a RSS feed–
You’ve injected a fresh look on WordPress theme. I’ve never seen a sliding header before, great! Just a question, is it possible to add a “Home” icon at the sidebar so that the reader won’t get lost when he or she has finished reading a post and would like to go back to the frontpage? I tend to look for “Home” icon when I try to return to the frontpage instead of clicking the main title. Perhaps some readers are just like me,
Thanks again.
I think you’ve done a great job with this theme, but have the same question – is it possible to have a home tab in the menu so visitors don’t get lost in the site
Thanks
Forgot to add – how do I move the sidebar to the right ?
Thanks again
this sliding door theme is awesome.. but i’m using joomla.. was wondering if you can make one for joomla as well?
Is it just me, or is the theme missing the “Meta” section where the user can choose to log in?
Great threme by the way!
Hi. On the Dubbo site, how did you make the drop down menus? I like!
Cheers
Rob

God bless ya!
Hola All!
I seem to be having the same issue as “realsol” who posted on “Nov 15th 2008″. I am running WPMU, all plugins are deactivated and for some reason the javascript does not run the images. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. You can view the site in question at http://themes-showcase.sitesires.com/
Thanks!
Hey There –
Great theme! I love it.
One minor detail you might look at for future updates:
The right margin of the whole menu seems to jitter a bit when you enter and exit the menu… A minor detail.
Hi Wayne,
Could you please help me with this?

Hi, Wayne!
I love the sliding doors! I was just about ready to cut over our website to use WordPress, and decided to upgrade to WP 2.7 before going live. Everything still works except, the photos no longer slide. I can still click on them, but I never see the full image anymore.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Paul

The best place to get questions answered is to post to the support forum.
What a sexy blog, love the theme, what are you using?
How do you changes the headings (abstract, landscape, the zoo… etc) and associated pictures?
Would love to have a visible RSS feeds for enteries and comments some place.
Possible?
Also, btw, as far as I can figure it out, while we are dummying up a site on our PC’s its not possible to add permalinks. That is a function of PC’s rather than the theme and thought you might like to know. I am hoping this resolves on launch.
That may be why people have trouble editing the the connection between the pictures and the posts. Also if they edit their categories, the numbers change, so they need to edit those. Uncategorized says 1 – had me stumped. We can’t put in category names without permalinks.
Cheers. It’s a great theme.
Great work!
its really great theme. i like it and i use my family’s friend job’s page. its looking good. thank you. and congratulations.
wow! very nice work
I installed this wonderful theme and was absolutely delighted with it. One person told me that the “sliding door” images were upside down on her computer but I sort of dismissed it … then another person told me and sent me a screen shot so I’m using a different theme … but I’d like to use the sliding door theme. Anyone else have this issue? If so, how did you work through it?
Thanks
Is it just me…. or is there an assumption that I am installing this on a fresh site without any created pages already???? I cannot for the life of me link the pictures to my pages even with the Page Links To addon.
Is there a tutorial for dummies? I am in need!
TY for the gorgeous theme and for sharing it!
I could not activate the plugin
Error
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare txfx_get_page_links_to_meta() (previously declared in /home1/thebibl2/public_html/deepakandudaiya/wp-content/themes/sliding-door/functions.php:114) in /home1/thebibl2/public_html/deepakandudaiya/wp-content/plugins/page-links-to/page-links-to.php on line 49
What is the remedy for this?
Hi I installed the latest version, but why is it giving this error message?
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare txfx_get_page_links_to_meta() in /home/myperfec/public_html/wp-content/themes/sliding-door/functions.php on line 113
Any remedy?
In the previous version, the panels did not link to the pages, and the plug-in was not use at all.:(
Thanks for the template. After long hours of searching for the right template for my blog, I have finally found the best one.
Again, thank you!
It looks like nobody has responded to Deepak so here’s the answer to his Fatal error problem when activating the page-links-to plugin:
The page links to plug-in version 1.5 is integrated into the sliding doors theme, that’s why when you try to install and activate the plug-in as per the instructions above, WordPress will show that fatal error, since the plug-in is already installed, or integrated, into the sliding door’s theme code. You do not have to download and install the page-links-to plug-in.
There is,however, a newer version of the plug in, version 2.3. If you would like to update it you will have to remove the code from the sliding door theme before doing this. Here’s what I did to update:
Install and activate Sliding door if you have’t already done so. Go to Appearance/Editor on wordpress admin. Make sure sliding door theme is selected on “select theme to edit” and then go to “Theme Functions” in the templates showing on the right side of the screen. (functions.php)
Scroll down the code until you see:
/*
The followign is the page links to plugin incorportated into this theme.
Delete Everthing from the /* all the way down except the ending ?> (Note: make sure you don’t delete this last ?> or you will have errors. )
When you are done you should have something like this in the last lines of code:
}
?>
(Make sure there are no spaces between } and ?> as shown, and no blank space or line breaks after ?> )
Now click on “Update FIle” at the bottom and that’s it. Now you can activate your version 2.3 page-links-to plug-in with no problems.
Hi,
When I updated from v 1.8 to 1.8.3 my website broke! I could not access wp-admin or visit my website or anything. I’m not sure what the error was since I couldn’t access my admin panel. I restored an earlier version, but I only have 1.7.1 backed up. Do you have the earlier v1.8? That one worked just fine for me… Thanks!

i already create 7 pages, how can i change the link (mac-host.com/slidingdoor) default theme to my link page
i got it now, just open file header.php you put hardlink on that. ok then.. thank you for the themes, such an awesome..
Is it possible to add a right sidebar to this theme? I’ve tried, got a 2nd sidebar, but it ends up at the bottom of the body content. I’m guessing it’s a CSS issue, but darnit I can’t get that sidebar at the top right.
Cool theme
Love your design
I can’t seem to fin out how to change the text size in the sidebar. our email text runs off the side of the box???
Very great work! Thanks for sharing. By the way, how can make the header display in every page such as vision, mission, about, contacts, etc. When i try to add a page in WP, the sliding header does not appear. How can i make it display? Thank you very much.

Compare your mods with the original theme line by line.
