Help! Embedded YouTube videos get cut off!

Hi, I have been building a site with this wonderful theme, but my embedded YouTube videos get cut off at the right side.

I have been just copy-pasting the YouTube URL into the HTML editor (not the WYSIWIG), as per this Wordpress tutorial:

None of the Wordpress formatting in the linked article even works!

When I post Wordpress code, as below, it appears as plain text, not as an actual embedded YouTube video.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaNH56Vpg-A] <- This doesn't work, it only displays this as text, not video.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaNH56Vpg-A&w=640&h=385] <- Same here

The only way I can figure out how to get YouTube embeds to work is just pasting in the naked URL in the HTML editor:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaNH56Vpg-A

But when I do this, it gets cut off

I can't specify making the video wider, or at the very least, shorter so the video works "proportionally".

Has anyone experienced this issue? How did you solve it please??

Here is what the actual YouTube video looks like on YouTube...you can see the whole image with all the characters:



Here is what the squished videos look like on my Wordpress:



If I can't adjust the width on my videos, I'm happy to adjust the height and make them "shorter," just so they will look proportional...

Hah, nevermind. Found it.

You have to go into style.css and in the content section, specify larger max-width and max-width. I set each to 1200 and the videos now work OK.

Let's consider this case...closed! (cue CSI Miami music)

With the standard 3-column layout, you can set use the video embed code (youtube > share > embed > custom > 500 x 281). Paste that in to the page or post editor on the Text (html) tab. That worked for me.
