Finally got around to actually putting finishing touches on the site I've been building:

Just wanted to bump as I've made quite a few changes:
Built Child Theme to finally update to latest Sliding Doors theme
Introduced and customized numerous plugins

Yet Another Related Posts Plug-in - Made it only bring back featured image and spaced as needed with CSS
Advanced Custom Fields - Took over for WPInfobox which kept losing my fields after posting. Customized single.php to show if field exists and into two (on admin side) clean forms
List category posts - Made this be the bulk of the loop. Edited it bring back featured image, excerpt, and read more. Added loop-tag and loop-category in child theme for this
Added more back end plugins for easier maintenance like Broken Link Checker, Codepress Admin Columns, Duplicate Post
