What image editors can you use for slider images

Hi! I'm a pretty new Wordpress user. First I want to say thanks for the awesome slider theme. I love it. I am a photographer/artist/writer and am going to use this theme to display my work. I do not use Photoshop so can I use Adobe Illustrator to make my images ready for the slider? I also use Picasa and Photobucket to do edits so are these good editing programs to use also?
