Changing the width of closed images in the header

Hi guys,

sorry - I'm very new to creating website and wordpress. I did have a good look at the FAQs and searched this forum but still can't solve my problem. This is the pilote site I've started building: http://test.uaem-germany.de/Home/wordpress/
My problem is that the three images I have in the header only cover about half of the width of the home page when they are closed. I increased the width of the images when they are open so that at least when someone hovers with the mouse over the images, the entire width of the page is covered.
I would really appreciate any help (especially if it's an easily understandable step-by-step description).

Cheers,
Pascal
