Remove Comments from all pages

Any questions about styling and customising the layout, changing the number of columns, changing the number of sliding images and so on.

Remove Comments from all pages

Hi Wayne, other Sliding Doors users,

Love the theme and it's going to work brilliantly for a couple of my sites. I would like to remove the comments field from displaying however, and am afraid of messing up the code. What's the easiest way to do it? :geek:

If you are talking about removing it from the code, I'd look at loop.php and remove the Comments
Code: Select all
<span class="comments-link"><?php comments_popup_link( __( 'Leave a comment', 'slidingdoor' ), __( '1 Comment', 'slidingdoor' ), __( '% Comments', 'slidingdoor' ) ); ?></span>

From the div class entry-utility. Might be there twice.

If you don't feel comfortable editing code and you are the only one posting, I'd just deselect " Allow Comments" on every page/post from the "Discussion" options. Newer version of WP hide this so you have to make that visible by selecting "Screen Options" that is underneath your profile name in the upper right hand corner. Since I am using a personal site, I'm going with this option.

Oh my, I have somehow lost comments from the posts, but all is working on pages.I have been working on this for days, and I have checked and double checked the .php, even went so far as overwrite a lot of the original files thinking, I might have missed something, but I CANNOT GET THE Comment Template to show up at the bottom of a post TO SHOW UP. I tried to find the "Screen Options" you mention, to see if it is unchecked, but I do not see it anywhere. The code you mentioned above is in the loop.php file where it should be, but I pasted it again hoping for a breakthrough.

After about a week of messing with this, I find that I am no longer trying anything new, so I really could use some help. Her web site is nutslikeme.com. Can anyone make any other suggestions.

I removed the code like shown above, but all my pages still have the comment section at the bottom? Can anyone help me figure this out? Thank you! :D
